Other Services - Loss Prevention
The loss prevention department has the aim of reducing the Members' exposure to claims by raising awareness of risk, publishing loss prevention materials and statistics, and illustrations of how claims may be avoided. Publications issued by the department include the Major Claims Analysis, Loss Prevention News and Carefully to Carry. Videos and DVDs are regularly produced, the most recent being 'No Room For Error'.
The department is also responsible for the publication of weekly Loss Prevention Bulletins which are distributed to Members electronically via e-mail and the Club's website.

| | Karl Lumbers (KSL) Karl is a master mariner with some thirty years' experience in the marine industry. He joined Thomas Miller in 1986 from a leading firm of marine consultants in London. Karl is responsible for monitoring the quality of surveyors and consultants used by the Club, analysis of the Club's major claims, and the production of videos and other loss prevention materials. |  |
| | Colin Legget (CL) Colin joined Thomas Miller in 2004 having previously served as a navigating and safety officer in the offshore sector. His seagoing experience has been gained on platform supply vessels carrying a range of bulk and liquid cargoes in tanks and containers on deck, as well as vessels engaged in specialised construction, ROV and saturation diving support tasks. |  |
| | Danny Ng (DN) Danny is a member of the Loss Prevention team based in Thomas Miller (Hong Kong). He is a Master Mariner with twenty years experience, mainly on oil and product tankers. Before joining TM(HK) in 1998, he worked for four years as a P&I correspondent and for three years with a shipowning company in Hong Kong. Danny speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and some Shanghainese. |  |
